DESCRIPTION

Throwing knives is fun. But throwing just any knife is dangerous—and not very smart.

To throw knives, knives specially designed for throwing are required. That’s why Kershaw made the Ion Throwing Knife Set. The three knives in the set are designed to have the correct weight and balance for target throwing.

Kershaw’s Ion knives are double-edged, spear-point blades. We made these full-tang knives from sturdy, high-chromium stainless steel and wrapped the handles in durable, sure-grip paracord. The extra-wide ring at the end adds balance, offers a great place to attach a lanyard, and makes it easy to remove the knives from the sheath - or from the target.

All three knives fit neatly in the nylon carrying and storage sheath, which makes it easy to take them out to the throwing range.

This Kershaw fixed blade knife features a 4-1/2" plain spear point blade made from 3Cr13 steel.

3Cr13 steel is a type of Chinese graded stainless steel similar to the 420J2 series popular in the USA. This steel is one of the most popular metals on the market when creating affordable and durable knives. It is incredibly easy to sharpen this particular metal to a fine edge or point. Add the fact that the 3Cr13 includes alloys to increase the fundamental corrosion resistance already found in stainless steel and you have a resilient metal made for day-to-day use by the average user. Knife producers around the world like to use and manipulate this steel, creating economical yet tough blades. In fact, this is one of the most commonly used metals for divers because of its intense resistance to corrosion, no matter the weather conditions.

Spear point blades are symmetrical from tip to bottom, while providing a single edge. This is distinguished from a dagger style blade, which would be double edged. The majority, though not all, spear points are ground the same on the bottom edge as they are on the top, but the central factor is the shape of the blade rather than the grind.

This fixed blade knife has a 3CR13 handle.
